Gossip Girl 5.02 - some thoughts…

There were a lot of interesting details, parallels and more in that episode. 

First, there such an obvious parallel to Chuck’s story in season 4 and Blair’s story this season.  Chuck believing that Blair didn’t love him anymore in 4.02; Blair thinking that Chuck not getting hurt cause of her in 5.02, and that he’s not in pain over losing her.  Louis is pretty much Blair’s Eva.  Doesn’t Blair’s happiness with Louis feel fake? -  “Chuck wanted me to marry Louis” (can’t remember the exact words sorry!) doesn’t sound like a happy choice to me.  It’s a second choice.

The alley scene with Chuck and Dan, and the bathroom scene with Blair and Dan also had a feeling of resemblance.  Both Blair and Chuck physically unwell while Dan tries to help them and talks about how this is all about Chuck and Blair’s feelings for one another.

Blair choosing the baby cause it was made with love.  Such a beautiful moment!

It’ll be interesting to see Dan’s role in the Chuck and Blair storyline.  He has at the moment a privileged position with both Chuck and Blair.  He’s gained their trust and/or friendship, he knows their secret, and he knows their feelings for one another.  Will he use that to bring them further apart at some point for selfish reasons?  Maybe, but I think that he’ll also bring them closer together in the end.
